Phase 2, Ward 4, Capturing Cardonald

As part of Glasgow Life’s Creative Communities Artists in Residence programme for Ward 4, Cardonald, Fiona Fleming delivered a visual arts project inspired by local perspectives. Residents were invited to submit photographs of their favourite views in the area, which Fiona used as reference points for a new series of paintings and sketches.

Where possible, Fiona met locals for socially distanced walks, gathering personal stories that enriched her work. To maintain engagement during restrictions, Fiona shared time-lapse videos and unfinished artworks online, encouraging residents to guess the locations via the Cardonald—Artist in Residence Facebook page.

The resulting works were shared digitally and presented at a Zoom event with South Cardonald and Crookston Community Council.
