Phase 3, Ward 2, Connecting the Natural Environment

As part of Glasgow Life’s Creative Communities Artists in Residence programme, The Village Storytelling Centre delivered 'Connecting the Natural Environment', a project that engaged local communities in exploring their relationship with the natural world through storytelling and art.

This work was delivered as part of Create 4 Glasgow, a participatory art project that built on the legacy of COP26 and gave voice to Glasgow's young people and their environmental priorities.

Workshops took place across the ward with groups of all ages, aiming to map green spaces, gather personal stories, and reimagine connections to local natural resources. At St Vincent’s Primary School, children took part in after-school sessions, uncovering their limited connection to nearby green spaces. They responded through painting, chalk art, collage, and collaborative storytelling performances. During this time, the Village Storytelling Centre also worked with the Glenoaks Tai Chi Group and hosted storytelling sessions at Pollokshaws Community Hub and Garden.

As part of Create 4 Glasgow, The Village Storytelling Centre was paired with St Conval’s Primary School, where they helped pupils explore air pollution and created a large-scale wind chime.
