Phase 4, North East Community Planning Partnership Area, Clean Air Campaign and Council of All Beings

As part of Glasgow Life’s Artists in Communities programme in the North East Community Planning Partnership Area, artist duo Walker and Bromwich delivered a programme of environmental engagement and awarness.

Building on connections developed in Artist in Residence, the artists continued working with St Paul’s Youth Forum and Sunnyside Primary School. Their workshops focused on the environment following COP26 and cycling, in relation to the UCI Cycling World Championships in Glasgow.

Pupils from Sunnyside Primary created papier-mâché animal heads for The Council of All Beings, a performance held in woodlands on the city’s edge. This ritual highlighted the children’s relationship with nature and the interdependence of all living beings.

Walker and Bromwich also worked with schools to deliver the Clean Air Campaign, advocating for safe cycling routes and cleaner air. Collaborating with On Bikes, Get Glasgow Moving, Sunnyside Primary School and St Paul’s Youth Forum, the artists worked with young people to design protest signs and cycling jerseys. These were showcased during Cycling the Hidden Molendinar Burn, amplifying calls for climate action, active travel, and environmental justice through creative expression and protest art.
