Phase 4, North West Community Planning Partnership Area, UCI Celebrations

As part of Glasgow Life’s Artists in Communities programme in the North East Community Planning Partnership Area, In the Making Glasgow delivered a series of school-based workshops inspired by the UCI Cycling World Championships.
Using creative processes not often accessible in the classrooms, such as screen-printing, collage, and experimental drawing, young people explored themes of invention and resilience in relation to cycling. Pupils were also encouraged to consider what messages they would offer to visitors and cyclists arriving in Glasgow. Several young people drew on their personal experience of having come to Glasgow to seek asylum.
The resulting artworks, featuring multilingual welcomes, were exhibited at In the Making’s window gallery, sharing the pupils’ creativity with the wider community.
As part of the UCI Cycling World Championship, GO LIVE! programme, In the Making Glasgow, delivered flag-making workshops at Merchant Square Family Day and proudly shared the young people’s welcome messages.
A special thanks to community partners, supporters and contributors.
