Disability Supervised Gym Sessions: Meet Martin

Picture of person smiling
I love the gym sessions and couldn't imagine not having them, I have so much fun, I really enjoy the exercise and the friendships I have created with the coaches and the other gym users.

Martin (53 years old) has been attending our supervised gym sessions for approximately 24 years. One of the longest attending participants in our programme, he comes along to both our sessions at Glasgow Club Scotstoun and Springburn.

Martin has been diagnosed with ataxia, which is a disorder that affects coordination, balance and speech, although it can also affect any other part of the body.

The supervised gym sessions have provided Martin the support to undertake full body workouts and he feels that they have had a positive effect on his ataxia and significantly slowed it down.

Glasgow Life - Sport offers supervised gym sessions to support those attending to develop their strength and fitness levels in a gym setting at their own pace.

These classes are for young people and adults aged 16+ years with a physical, learning, or sensory disability.

Our highly experienced and qualified Disability Sport Coaches will be on hand to provide advice and assistance throughout.

These sessions are suitable for all abilities and no previous gym experience is required, once we have provided you with a induction of the various machines we will tailor a programme which meets your requirements
