The Mitchell Library houses a wealth of information covering all subject areas and reflecting all shades of opinion. In addition to books and periodicals there are maps, charts, music and postcards - formats of all kinds.
Our collections are rich in items relating to arts, music, literature and natural history and, as you would expect in Scotland’s largest public reference library, Scottish material is particularly well represented.
Our newspaper and journal collection is also an excellent source of information and our staff are always available to offer advice on how to make the best use of the Library and its resources.
The Library has an extensive collection of 19th and 20th century parliamentary papers, online access to all the latest government information and a growing collection of Scots Law material.
Private study carrels are available on Level 4 and Level 5.
