With a family music legacy that stretches back generations into the famed Ballad traditions of the North East of Scotland, Frieda draws her style and influence from the land that provides the words for many of her own songs. The rich tapestry of musical melodies and warm lyrical stories combine to produce a singer that can sing to touch the heart.
Top Scots traditional singer and guitarist George Duff performs songs from his fine new album “The Collier Laddie” featuring classics by Robert Burns, songs about the mining industry, Irish songs and works by contemporary Scots songwriters like Michael Marra, Hamish Henderson and Brian McNeill. A Trad Awards nominee for Scots Singer of 2018, at Celtic Connections 2019 he is accompanied by fiddler John Martin (Tannahill Weavers/Ossian/Easy Club), Kevin Macleod (The Occasionals) on mandolin, bouzouki and resonator tenor guitar and Mike Katz (Battlefield Band) on whistles & pipes.
“One of the most soulful of Scots voices" Karine Polwart
