The Filthy Tongues announce the release of Black Valentine in November 2023, a compilation album celebrating the success of their first 3 LPs. The album is a collection of the band's best tracks so far with 2 brand new songs. Black Valentine will be available on uniquely coloured eco vinyl, CD and digital. The band have also announced a run of UK tour dates in November 2023.

The release of Black Valentine follows The Filthy Tongue's recent album In These Dark Places, that was distributed by Last Night From Glasgow in early 2023. In These Dark Places was the third and final part of a trilogy of albums based on the band's hometown of Edinburgh following Jacob’s Ladder (2016) and Back to Hell (2018). All three LPs received rave reviews across the board, solidifying the band's legacy as a unique force in the Scottish music scene.

In their different forms, The Filthy Tongues have remained key players in Scottish alternative rock since the mid 80’s. The Filthy Tongues were previously members of Goodbye Mr MacKenzie and Angelfish before Shirley Manson moved onto Garbage. The band initially transformed into Isa & the Filthy Tongues with Stacey Chavis, before morphing into the current core trio of Martin Metcalfe, Derek Kelly and Fin Wilson and releasing Jacob’s Ladder in 2016.

Frontman Martin Metcalfe is a powerful force in Scottish music and has lent his talents to several Last Night From Glasgow related projects including working with Fay Fife (The Rezillos) on her new project The Countess of Fife and contributing to The Skid’s new album Destination Düsseldorf. The band recently performed at Edinburgh’s iconic Fringe Festival in Revelations of Rab McVie, a play by Maria Rud, soundtracked by The Filthy Tongues.
