Transatlantic Slavery: Learning Resources for Teachers
Join our Learning and Access Curator for Schools for a free online info session, plus Q&A, providing an overview of two self-led resources on the topic of transatlantic slavery through our digital resource - Transatlantic Slavery: Learning Resources for Teachers. You can view the digital resource here - (Learning Resources — Glasgow Life).
This learning resource is aimed at both primary and secondary school teachers, and this session will introduce two free online resources available for pupils – an interactive walking tour through Glasgow’s Merchant City and a classroom presentation. Developed by Glasgow Life Museums’ education department, these resources can be used to teach the topic of transatlantic slavery in an anti-racist and less Eurocentric way, drawing on original museum objects and archival material. Including activities that focus more on the enslaved Black people as opposed to the enslavers and their wealth, pupils are encouraged to think critically about how to deal with the city’s past and how issues such a reparations should be approached.
This free online info session is on Tuesday 1 October 2024 on Microsoft Teams.
4.00 - 4.45pm
