Building on her work with acclaimed progressive bluegrass outfit Crooked Still, singer-songwriter Aoife O’Donovan began her solo career with 2013’s Fossils, and now returns to Celtic Connections to launch her much-anticipated third album Age of Apathy, recorded with Grammy-winning producer Joe Henry. Once again highlighting her gift for poetic imagery and unconventionally alluring melody, together with her sublime vocals, it’s her most adventurously assured, richly layered recording yet.

“Sometimes searing, always poetically rendered lyrics matched by astute, economically articulated melodies” (AllMusic)

Former True Detective star Lera Lynn’s latest album, 2020’s aptly titled On My Own, is the ultimate solo record: she wrote, sang, produced and recorded it entirely single-handed, meanwhile providing all the instrumental backing. Its characteristically dark yet hopeful songs boldly expand Lynn’s country-based, Gothic-hued stylistic palette towards rock, blues, indie and West Coast folk, united by her spellbinding voice.
