Part of Dance International Glasgow (DIG Engage)

This event takes place at CCA. Book through CCA

Trajal Harrell came to contemporary dance world fame with the Twenty Looks or Paris is Burning at The Judson Church series of works which theoretically juxtaposed the voguing dance tradition with the early postmodern dance tradition. He is now considered one of the most important choreographers of his generation.

Trajal Harrell, who comes to DIG 19 with the UK premiere of Dancer of the Year, will conduct a lecture seminar that is part lecture and part conversation.  Using video and photographs, Harrell will map the trajectory of his aesthetic history beginning with his work on voguing and early postmodern dance and moving on to his more recent work with butoh and modern dance. Short sections of some of the dances will be viewed. The lecture seminar transforms freely between looking, listening, and talking as interests and questions arise from being in the room together.
