Coffee Cadenzas with Kickstart Opera | The Makers Galleries

Coffee Cadenzas is a community concert series by Kickstart Opera, inviting musicians from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland to share their music with the local community surrounded by artwork and of course...a cup of coffee! The aim is to provide accessibility to a variety of genres of music, support cultural hubs in the community and provide professional opportunity for emerging artists.

Join us at The Burrell Collection this June and July for the Summer programme. Starting at 10:30am, enjoy a short Collection talk followed by a live musical performance inspired by the collection (1 hr 30m including interval).

Coffees and other drinks and snacks will be available to purchase at our Benugo restaurant.

About the performer:

Dawn Coulshed and Joanna Stark are a Scottish duo who blend varied musical influences, including jazz, folk, and classical, to create live performances that are both emotionally resonant and engaging. They first began performing together after meeting at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in 2021. Since then they've performed in venues and festivals across Scotland as a duo as well as in a larger string ensemble. Joanna and Dawn take pride in their commitment to exploring improvisation, infusing each performance with spontaneous musical creativity as well as writing original music. They offer a unique live music experience that promises a captivating journey with space for meditative moments.
