New film encourages more visitors to make their Next Stop Glasgow!

One million cinema goers across the UK will see the very best of Glasgow

One million cinema goers across the UK will see the very best of Glasgow, with the launch of a new film showcasing the city. The 60-second film will be shown before screenings of blockbuster movies and art-house gems in film houses in London and the South East, North West England, North Scotland and the Borders until the end of next month.

The film is the latest instalment of the city’s destination marketing campaign, Next Stop Glasgow, which was launched last year in the UK and internationally by Glasgow Life and tourism partners.  The campaign was developed to support the delivery of Glasgow’s Tourism and Visitor Plan which aims to boost the city’s tourism economy by attracting one million more overnight visitors by 2023.

Produced by local agency The Forest of Black, the film is set to music by Glasgow based band, Admiral Fallow, and gives an overview of the city’s vibrant neighbourhoods, diverse culinary offering, legendary music scene and rich cultural heritage including the legacy of Charles Rennie Mackintosh, as the city celebrates the 150th anniversary of his birth.

Councillor David McDonald, the Chair of Glasgow Life and Depute Leader of Glasgow City Council, said: “Glasgow is an incredible city, filled with character and culture and we’re rightly proud of everything that’s on offer to visitors and citizens alike. We want to shout about our success and help to bring even more people to the city, boosting both our economy and employment. The film shows Glasgow at its best and I’m delighted that we’re sharing just how great our city is with UK audiences.”

Further complementary campaign activity will be undertaken including brand partnerships, social media advertising, search engine and influencer marketing as well as a new toolkit for Glasgow tourism businesses who wish to participate in the campaign.
