Sports Person of the Year Awards recognise the excellence, achievements and developments from Glasgow and Scottish sportsmen, sportswomen and sports organisations.

The commitment and achievements of so many have contributed to another spectacular year of sport for Glasgow and these awards are the city’s opportunity to recognise and thank them for their efforts.

We’ve much to celebrate as we look back over the past 12 months. Glasgow has hosted more major sporting events, including the 2018 European Championships back in August. We welcomed some of the biggest names in sport - their dedication and athleticism inspiring the next generation. 

But there is more to sport in Glasgow than the world-class events. The Sports Person of the Year Awards is about celebrating the performances and commitment of our athletes, sports clubs, coaches and volunteers, and rewarding the schools, clubs, teams and individuals who work tirelessly for sport across Glasgow. Their efforts and achievements are inspiring, and they make a valuable contribution to one of Glasgow city council’s key objectives - to encourage our citizens to lead more active and healthy lives.
