Join Curator of British Art, Jo Meacock, as she talks about this atmospheric painting of the River Findhorn at sunset by Glasgow Boy Alexander Mann. In the mid-1880s Mann often painted in the north-east of Scotland, around Stonehaven, Collieston and Findhorn.

The painting was purchased with assistance from the Heritage Lottery Fund, Trustees of the Hamilton Bequest and Friends of Glasgow Museums in 2004. Through the generous support of the Hamilton Bequest, which was set up in 1927 to purchase oil paintings for Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, Glasgow Museums has acquired ninety Scottish, British and European paintings of international importance over the last ninety-one years.
