Saturday 17 June 2017
10:00AM - 4:00PM
Come and join artists Douglas Morland and Helen de Main for a day of drawing at GoMA. A number of different drawing activities and exercises will be set up in Gallery 1 for visitors to take part in. Take your drawings home or add them to our large collaborative cityscape frieze that will be evolving throughout the course of the day.   Suitable for all ages, the whole family can come along and  enjoy a creative and artistic day out as part of the national celebration - The Great Get Together - to mark the life and work of MP Jo Cox who believed that as a nation we had more in common to unite us than we have to divide  us. Drawing activities will include:

Drawing Objects

Over the course of the day, objects from Glasgow Museums’ collection will be arranged in different compositions for visitors to draw. Visitors will be encouraged to sit awhile and make observational drawings or take part in faster more experimental drawing exercises.

Drawing Each Other

Get together and draw each other. A variety of traditional and fun, experimental techniques will be used to make drawings of friends, family and other visitors to the gallery.

Drawing Space

Get inspired by the gallery itself and use a variety of techniques to make drawings of the gallery space. We will be using an assortment of rubbings, mark making and collage to make drawings of the gallery and some of its fantastic architectural details.

Drawing Together

Working together, drawings produced over the course of the day will be added to a large scale frieze running through the centre of the gallery space. Add people, objects and buildings to this large scale collaborative work embellishing and adding to this vibrant cityscape work.

All materials and equipment will be supplied.
