Inspired by the stories and letters of conscientious objectors who refused to fight during the First World War. Weaving together music, spoken word and image engaging with the public perception of war and highlighting the sacrifices objectors made in the name of peace. 'Conscientious objectors do not believe that violence can cure violence, or that militarism can exorcise the spirit of militarism' (Bertrand Russell).
The work is intended to show the futility of war through the words of objectors and will engage with the public perception of war and highlight the sacrifices made by objectors in the name of peace.
This is an important new work by one of Scotland’s leading musicians, a gifted guitarist and an original and always inventive composer.
