Reconnecting the classic sounds of Stax, Atlantic and Motown with their African roots, Burundian-born J.P. Bimeni – now London-based, having fled his homeland as a teenage refugee - released his debut album Free Me in 2018, winning comparisons with Otis Redding for both his voice and impassioned lyrics. His band The Black Belts features six seasoned Spanish veterans, on trumpet, sax, keys, guitar, bass and drums.

Crowned Best Vocalist at 2019’s Scottish Jazz Awards, Georgia Cécile splices classic-sounding melodies and sharp contemporary lyrics with strands of pop, R&B and soul.
