Nevis Ensemble - Edinburgh Waverley, Edinburgh Airport, Jupiter Artland, Craigmillar, JUST Festival

Nevis Ensemble is a brand new Street Orchestra for Scotland, bringing 70 performances to communities across the country during Glasgow 2018.

We will take our energetic 40-piece orchestra, pop up and surprise commuters first thing in the morning, make guerrilla-style appearances in swimming pools, and even perform at the summit of Ben Nevis.

With the theme of Movement, and conducted by Holly Mathieson and Jon Hargreaves, the orchestra will draw musicians from Scotland, London, Amsterdam and Berlin, performing everything from Rachmaninov, to Radiohead, a few Reels thrown in, and a brand new commission from award-winning composer Matthew Grouse.

Today's appearances:

• Edinburgh Waverley Station, Edinburgh, 9:30am - 10am
  Just in time for the end of rush hour, Nevis will take over Waverley Station for a short performance on the main concourse.
  
  
• Edinburgh Airport, Edinburgh, 11:15am - 11:45am
  Giving a full Scottish welcome to the thousands of travellers who pass through Edinburgh Airport every day, Nevis shall give a 30 minute performance in the Arrivals area of the airport.
  
  
• Jupiter Artland, Bonnington House Steadings, Edinburgh, 1:30pm - 2:30pm
  Just outside Edinburgh in the amazing art park of Jupiter Artland, for this performance Nevis shall join with the Cheyne Gang, a choir for people with chronic respiratory illnesses. The performance shall be in the Steadings area, but in true Nevis style, we may take you around the collection.

• Richmond Craigmillar Church, Craigmillar, Edinburgh, 4:30pm - 5:30pm
  A performance in one of Edinburgh’s most distinct communities, this shall be free and open for anyone to attend
  
  
• JUST Festival – St John’s Church, Princes Street, Edinburgh, 7pm - 8pm
  Located in one of Edinburgh’s most iconic churches, the JUST Festival is a celebration of peace, justice and equality running during Edinburgh’s festival month – the largest celebration of the arts in the world. Nevis shall feature as part of this year’s #OutsideIn programme.
