The Glasgow Royal Concert Hall is a fitting venue for Skipinnish to bring their 20th Anniversary Celebrations to a close. It was just a short distance from this very venue, at the then Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama that founder members Andrew Stevenson and Angus MacPhail met and first played a tune together twenty years ago.
From humble beginnings performing in pubs, clubs and village halls in their early days, the rise of Skipinnish over recent years has been astounding. Since the release of their 2017 album, The Seventh Wave, Skipinnish have been riding their own huge wave of popularity with sell-out shows, chart hits and snowballing fan-base. With over 10 million streams on Spotify, millions of views on YouTube and an insatiable demand for their live shows, the Skipinnish wave continues to rise.
This concert is the final show of three major Scottish events to mark their 20th Anniversary and will be a memorable crescendo to their celebrations. Their now classic anthems, Walking on the Waves, The Island, Alive, Western Ocean and many others will be augmented with their powerful brand of bagpipe-led tune sets. With the release of their latest album “Steer by the Stars” in May, this will be the Glasgow debut for their new material and will be a very special night of celebration.
Drummer and youngest member, Rory Grindlay, was not even born when the band was formed and in that time Skipinnsh have reached the very top of the Celtic Music scene in Scotland.
Bands rise and fall, but at this moment in our history, Skipinnish are undoubtedly the kings of their realm. On the 25th of October, 2019 the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall will be rocking to the magic of this Scottish Music success story.
