Secure in their seminal status, as leading progenitors of English folk-rock, Fairport Convention – in their own words – “did for real ale what the Grateful Dead did for LSD”. Formed in 1967 (with subsequent alumni including Richard Thompson, Sandy Denny and Dave Swarbrick), Fairport married the countercultural energies of US contemporaries like The Byrds and The Band with British musical traditions, and would later see their classic 1969 LP, Liege and Lief, voted Most Influential Folk Album of All Time, at the 2006 Radio 2 Folk Awards.
Helmed by co-founder Simon Nicol, today’s line-up continues to tour annually, here performing material from their aptly-named new studio album, Myths and Heroes, alongside favourites from nearly a half-century’s back catalogue.
Uniting similarly seasoned maturity with youthful virtuosity, the Anglo/American duo of singer-guitarist Kevin Dempsey and fiddler/vocalist Rosie Carson concoct a diverse, harmony-rich blend of folk songs and tunes from both sides of the Pond.

Tickets can be booked online, over the telephone on 0141 353 8000 or in person. A transaction charge of £1 applies to online bookings and £1.50 for telephone bookings. There is no transaction charge for in person bookings. We can post tickets out to UK addresses for £1. Unfortunately we cannot post tickets overseas.

The stalls of the Main Hall and New Hall are equipped with induction loop systems, but operation is dependent on each individual event or performance, so provision can vary. Wheelchair access
Wheelchair access is from the Killermont Street entrance (North Entrance) only. From this entrance, there is Lift access to all levels.

Cafe or restaurant
Full table service is not available, food or drinks are ordered from the service counter. However, food and drinks can be brought to the table.
There is not a lowered section at the counter.
No tables are permanently fixed. No chairs are permanently fixed. Some chairs have armrests.
Drinking straws are available.
Menus are hand held and wall mounted. Menus are not available in Braille. Menus are not available in large print. Picture menus are not available.

At times, Glasgow Life will be on the premises to film and take photos.
The public are only permitted to record and take photos where explicit permission has been granted in advance.
Free wifi
Yes, there is free public Wifi access. To connect, visitors have to register with the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall Public Wifi which should pop up on their browser. After that visitors will only need their password for future uses.
