Dates and times
To mark 100 years since the end of WWI, Kelvingrove Museum will host a special day of commemoration on Sunday 11th November.
Opening early at 10.30am the day's events will include:
11am
1 minute's silence of remembrance for those that fought in The Great War
Hourly from 11am to 2pm (4 performances) Letters from the Trenches
In partnership with the Scottish Youth Theatre, Kelvingrove Museum will present a series of moving and evocative letters and poems detailing what life was really like in the trenches of WWI. Performed by three young actors from the Scottish Youth Theatre in the lower ground floor exhibition gallery, currently hosting “Brushes with War: Art from the Frontline 14-18”.
1.30pm Bagpipe Recital
Performed by Roddy MacLeod of The National Piping Centre – a piobaireachd written to commemorate one of the worst maritime disasters in United Kingdom history.
3-4pm Organ and Choral Concert
A male voice choir of 100 voices will perform a medley of songs from WW1 including Pack up your troubles in your old kit bag; It’s long way to Tipperary; Roses in Picardy; Over There; Keep the home fires burning and many more.
