Alternative Glasgow Tour with Invisible Cities
Invisible Cities is a social enterprise that trains people who have experienced homelessness or social hardship to become walking tour guides of their own city.
Tours offer a fresh and meaningful way to explore Glasgow, led by guides with powerful personal stories and deep local knowledge.
The Alternative Glasgow tour takes you off the beaten track to explore some of the city’s lesser-known stories and hidden history. Discover Glasgow’s past through a different lens, one shaped by resilience, transformation, and the voices often left out of traditional tours.
Led by guide Neil, you’ll learn about the city’s construction and evolution over time, and stand on the site of Glasgow’s last public execution.
You’ll also hear surprising facts about the city’s social, political, and architectural heritage, from the formation of its street grid to its changing communities.
This 90-minute walking tour starts in the heart of Glasgow and uncovers the stories that live beneath the surface. It’s an alternative history of a city shaped by struggle and spirit, and told by those who know it best.
All bookings directly support the non-profit work and helps empower more people through training and opportunity.
