Dessert at Gael & Grain

Shipyard Bards, Tall Tales and Dinner is a vibrant celebration of the Clyde’s shipbuilding legacy and Glasgow’s ongoing regeneration, hosted at Gael and Grain Scottish Pub and Kitchen on Sandyford Place. Presented by Glasgow Music City Tours and Gael and Grain, the event blends storytelling, traditional songs, and a hearty two-course Scottish meal with a dram of whisky. Drawing on material from Fairfield Heritage Museum and former shipyard workers, the tales, some humorous, others poignant capture the spirit of the Clydeside, from legendary work-ins to clashes between bowler-hatted bosses and bunnet-wearing labourers. The evening features live music from Mae MacInnes, a gifted singer from Skye steeped in island tradition, performing songs inspired by the Clyde’s industrial past. Her set is accompanied by evocative images of the river, shipyards, and iconic vessels. Guests will enjoy dishes like Peterhead haddock and chips, haggis with neeps and tatties (vegetarian option available), or Gael & Grain’s steak pie. Desserts include warm apple pie with custard, cranachan, or sticky toffee pudding with vanilla ice cream. Doors open at 3.40pm, with dinner served from 3.45pm. The performance runs from 5.15pm to 6.15pm - a rich, immersive experience honouring the Clyde’s enduring influence.
