Glasgow is shining with creativity this Christmas!

Local artists and schoolchildren helped design fun festive lighting displays across the city, celebrating Christmas and Glasgow’s 850th birthday in style.

A brand-new Christmas lighting trail transforms the city into a festive wonderland.

The trail illuminates Sauchiehall Street, Buchanan Street, and Argyle Street. Find out all about each installation below.

Sandaig Primary pupil Roza, 11, lights up Sauchiehall Street with Glasgow Welcome — her winning design brought to life with twinkling Christmas trees and enchanting snowmen ⛄

Bright City by Ellie Mills and Alice Brown glows with stories shared by Glaswegians — gather friends and family and marvel at these bright neon animations celebrating the city’s love of blethering. 👩‍👩‍👦✨

Domme Ewan’s Constellations turns the Concert Hall façade into a living night sky, with colours shimmering like the Northern Lights above Buchanan Street. Wrap up warm and let the lights lead the way to a little bit of Christmas magic 🌠🎇

Look up! Be mesmerised by creativity, colourful birds and festive greenery, as Jamie Wardrop’s Let Glasgow Flourish lights up the iconic Buck’s Head Building on Argyle Street 🌿 🕊️

Kate Robinson’s radiant angels bring messages of light, love, and peace to the Mercat Building — a celestial glow in the Merchant City, which points down to the Winter Wonderland on Glasgow Green 👼

Everything you need to know about our Christmas lighting trail.

The trail runs throughout the festive season, from 20 November – 3 January. 

Festivities start at 4.30pm on 20 November, and the trail will come to life from 6pm. From 21 November - 3 January the lights will switch on every day at 4pm.

Yes, expect festive shows, and roaming performances along the trail on the build up to the trail illuminating for the first time.


Glasgow Museum of Modern Art will be hosting a festive lantern making workshop with the gallery have late opening from 6pm – 8pm. 

Yes, the trail is free to walk and enjoy.

The installations are spread across Glasgow city centre, including Sauchiehall Street, Buchanan Street, and Argyle Street. Check out the map for more information.

Enjoy festive fun Winter Wonderland St Enoch and Winter Wonderland on the Green.
Both locations will feature seasonal rides, family-friendly attractions, and festive food and drink stalls, offering everything from traditional treats to warming beverages.
