Funding for Glasgow based Coaches and Volunteers


Glasgow Sport Coach and Officials Award

  • Information about funding for sports coaching courses in Scotland and the UK. You can apply as an individual or as a Group application for 3 or more applicants.
  • The Group application should be done by the Club Secretary or someone who can take responsibility for the applicants (see below)
  • The applicant(s) must pay for the course up front and if successful in obtaining funding will receive the award once the course has been completed and proof of attendance and success submitted.
  • You could be eligible for sportScotland funding and you should investigate that possibility.

Who's it For?

For individuals who are VOLUNTEER coaches/officials or wish to be coaches/officials, applicants must volunteer or wish to volunteer at a Glasgow club or Glasgow Sport session.


What's it For?

This award is available to individuals who wish to train as coaches / officials or to improve upon existing qualifications. Funding is only available for National Governing Body recognised courses.


How Much is available?

Up to 75% of costs for Glasgow residents and up to 40% for non-Glasgow residents who volunteer in a Glasgow club


Anything else I need to know?

The award application form should be submitted at least 3 weeks before the start of the course otherwise you risk not being funded for your course.


What happens after I apply?

Your application will be assessed by our committee and you will be informed of the decision approximately 6 weeks after application.

Our committee meets approximately every 4 weeks

UKCC Course Funding


sport Scotland recognises the importance of new coaches coming into sport and the need for accessible, affordable coaching courses to be available to them. By completing the relevant application form (individual or group) eligible applicants can access funding towards the cost of UKCC endorsed qualifications. Applications must be made at least four weeks prior to the start of the course; retrospective applications will not be accepted.

What else do you need to do?


Check with your club / school / community group that they are happy to support your application, as you must supply their contact details and this will be verified.


What happens after you apply?


Once your application is received, sportScotland will check you meet the eligibility criteria and give you an electronic decision within 10 working days of receipt of your application.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​
