✍ Comedy, Biography & True Story, Social & Culture
A Scot and an American walk into a book festival. In this special event, Aye Write and the Glasgow International Comedy Festival present comedians turned authors Eleanor Morton and Krystal Evans.
In Life Lessons from Historical Women, Eleanor uncovers stories of the women whose lives and achievements have shaped our modern world. Covering the full gamut of the female experience, and women from all corners of history and the globe, the book includes chapters on 'How To Thrive' with Judith Kerr and 'Think Like an Entrepreneur' with Mary Seacole. Written with humour and sincerity, Eleanor imparts valuable lessons for the modern female.
Meanwhile, The Hottest Girl at Burn Camp is Krystal Evans’ disarmingly funny memoir about an unimaginable tragedy. When Krystal was 14, the house she shared with her mother and little sister burned down. Krystal suffered burns and smoke inhalation. Her sister didn’t survive. This is a spellbinding story of growing up poor in America, of a family dangerously close to the edge, and of a girl struggling to make her way into adulthood, once the smoke clears.
