Pat Kane is a writer, musician, activist, and father. Along with his brother Greg he formed Hue and Cry in 1983 and enjoyed chart success throughout the 80s and 90s and the band continue to tour. Having studied English at Glasgow University, he was elected rector of the university in 1990. He published The Play Ethic in 2004, and has written for the Independent, the Sunday Times, the Guardian and was a founding editor of the Sunday Herald. He is currently a columnist with The National. He will be discussing his favourite books with Peter Ross of The Times.
