Dates and times
A day-long festival throughout Tramway and our neighbours The Hidden Gardens, the Sufi Festival will open a door into the art and culture of Sufism, from music, poetry and theatre, to art and craft, storytelling, and ritual ceremonies of devotion.
The day’s events will include practical workshops on the craft of Sufi art, poetry and calligraphy; storytellers and poets; world-class musicians: a bazaar selling traditional handicrafts and of course, food and drink from across the Islamic world. There will also be talks by leading academics and Sufi scholars.
The Sufi Festival also includes accompanying events across the surrounding areas of Pollokshields and Govanhill.
The Sufi Festival welcomes people of all ages, abilities, faiths, ethnicities, gender identities and mindsets to come and share in an authentic exposition of Sufism organised by practicing Sufis, and a cultural experience of Islamic art, culture and heritage in the heart of Scotland’s most diverse and multicultural community.
Free drop-in event. You can register via Eventbrite>
The day's events will be followed by an evening performance by Qawalli masters Shah e Mardan, tickets £10. MORE>
