Dundee-based jazz musician/producer Andrew Wasylyk plays music from Fugitive Light And Themes Of Consolation: the third in his acclaimed trilogy exploring the east coast of Scotland. Inspired by his home city’s architecture, sea and shore, Fugitive Light… embarks on a sonic journey along the Tay estuary, “reconfiguring Tayside … as a kind of liminal dreamscape where past and possibility, memory and potential are allowed to intermingle”, in the words of Clash reviewer Robin Murray. Wasylyk (an alias of the writer, producer and multi-instrumentalist, Andrew Mitchell) – showcases his musical mastery with this beautiful song cycle, as guitar, piano, clàrsach and drum grooves converge to invoke the elemental forces of land, sea and stone.
