Ladies only UKCC Teaching Aquatic Course is a huge success

Glasgow Sport host the first ever course of this type in Scotland
Glasgow Sport Swimming Development and Equalities Team have been working together to host Scotland's first ever ladies only UKCC Level 1 Teaching Aquatic Course at Holyrood Secondary School last weekend

Two years ago Glasgow Sport established Learn to Swim Programme aimed at encouraging more ladies from BAME communities to become involved in swimming - the programme has gone from strength to strength.

In order to expand the programme further and to meet high demands
, we identified the need for more female coaches and female coaches from a BAME backgrounds to be involved in the sport.

The course was attended by 12 ladies, 6 of whom were from BAME background who had been recruited through our partnership organisation community groups, organisations and Glasgow Sports area teams.

It is hoped that these newly qualified volunteer coaches will be able to assist in increasing the size of the Ladies only Learn to Swim programme and encourage more people to become involved in the sport of swimming.
