Turning ambition into action across Glasgow

One of the privileges of being Chair of Glasgow Life is seeing first-hand the difference our charity makes across Glasgow. From libraries and museums to community centres and concert halls, we’re woven into the fabric of our city.

The stories throughout our latest Annual Review demonstrate the positive impact our services, programmes, venues and experiences continue to have on people’s lives and the contribution they make to Glasgow’s wellbeing, prosperity and sense of place.

The past year has reinforced for me the importance of organisations like Glasgow Life. At a time when public services continue to face significant pressures, opportunities to improve health and wellbeing, reduce inequalities, develop skills and bring communities together have never been more important. Glasgow Life has a unique role to play in supporting these ambitions and helping to create a fairer, healthier and more inclusive city.

The launch of Glasgow Life’s Business Plan in 2025 marked an important milestone. Setting out our strategic direction for the next three years, it reaffirms our commitment to widening participation and ensuring more people can benefit from culture, sport, learning and active living.

Glasgow Life’s success has always depended on strong partnerships. Whether working alongside Glasgow City Council, national agencies, cultural organisations, sporting bodies, or local businesses and communities, our ability to bring people together around shared ambitions and values remains one of our greatest strengths.

I would like to offer a huge thanks to our incredible staff and volunteers, as well as to Glasgow Life’s Board for its continued leadership and unstinting advocacy. Our charity is made up of exceptional people with real expertise who consistently go above and beyond for their colleagues and their city.
