Billy Connolly’s iconic banana boots on display to celebrate 50th anniversary

On Monday 25 August, the People’s Palace team brought something extra special to the St Enoch Centre. Billy Connolly’s famous banana boots were on display to celebrate fifty years since he first wore them on stage in 1975.
Next to the boots, there was a People’s Palace display, put together for Glasgow’s 850th anniversary celebrations. The display is touring different places across our city this year. Alongside these, there were:
- Arts and crafts for kids
- Banana boots photo props
- And colleagues chatting and answering questions about the People’s Palace
Watch Kevin Kerrigan from the People’s Palace team and members of the public talk about the event and what the People’s Palace means for our stories and our city.
