Carers Week 8 to 14 June 2026

Carers Week is marked annually in June to raise awareness of caring, highlight the challenges unpaid carers face, and recognise the contribution they make to families and communities. The theme for Carers Week 2026 is Building Carer Friendly Communities.

This theme focuses on creating places, services and environments where unpaid carers are recognised, understood and supported, helping to ensure they are not left to cope alone.

Glasgow Life recognises that colleagues who have carer responsibilities can sometimes find it challenging balancing this with work. Alongside Flexible Working and some other options detailed within the Conditions of Service - Leave, Glasgow Life are also able to offer Carer’s Leave.

Under The Carer’s Leave Regulations 2024 you are entitled to unpaid leave to provide or arrange care for a ‘dependant’ who has: -

A physical or mental illness or injury that means they’re expected to need care for more than 3 months.
A disability (as defined in the Equality Act 2010).
Care needs because of their old age.
