Celebrating success: Dementia and Parkinson’s walking football programme named Best Community Football for All Project

We’re excited to share that our Dementia and Parkinson’s walking football programme has won the Best Community Football for All Project at the Scottish FA West Region Grassroots Awards.
These awards celebrate projects that:
- Make football open to everyone
- Create new opportunities
- And bring real benefits to communities
Our walking football sessions are about more than just sport. They give people living with Dementia and Parkinson’s the chance to stay active, connect with others, and experience the joy of the game.
Matt Ramsay, Football Participation Officer, accepted the trophy. He said, “This recognition belongs to our players, families, carers, and volunteers who make the sessions so special.
"It shows how football can bring joy, connection, and dignity to everyone, no matter the challenges they face.”
What makes this win even more meaningful is that our partners, participants and their families nominated the programme.
Congratulations to everyone involved!
Thank you to our partners and funders who support making this possible.
