Free equality, diversity and wellbeing training this October and on demand

Check out the free online and in-person training and conversation events available this month. They cover a range of topics including mental health, menopause, navigating differences, ADHD awareness and healthy eating.

These equality, diversity and wellbeing sessions are designed to help you develop, grow and feel supported at work.

 

Is something on your mind? Virtual appointments with Able Futures throughout October and November

To support colleague wellbeing, Able Futures will be offering weekly Virtual Appointment Days throughout October and November. These confidential 30-minute appointments provide an opportunity to talk things through with a qualified mental health professional and explore the support available. If appropriate, they can also help you access up to nine months of free one-to-one support through Able Futures, who deliver the Access to Work Mental Health Support Service on behalf of the Department for Work and Pensions.

Menopause in the Workplace: Manager's Guidance, Monday 5 October, 2.30pm to 4pm

Build your confidence in supporting colleagues affected by menopause. This session helps managers understand the impact menopause can have in the workplace and provides guidance on having supportive conversations and on creating an inclusive and understanding working environment where everyone can thrive. Recommended for all managers.

Women's Health: Understanding the Menopause, Wednesday 7 October, 2pm to 4pm 

Learn more about the changes that can occur during menopause and the impact they can have on your health and wellbeing. This practical session explores common symptoms and offers guidance and coping strategies to help you feel informed, prepared and supported. Recommended for all colleagues.

Mental Health Awareness Webinar, Friday 9 October, 2pm to 4pm

Ahead of World Mental Health Day on 10 October, we are hosting this informative session to learn more about common mental health conditions, how they can affect wellbeing at work, and the practical steps we can take to support positive mental health in the workplace. The webinar will also highlight available support and help build confidence in recognising when additional help may be needed.

Rainbow Laces Lunchtime Wellbeing Walk, Tuesday 13 October, 12pm to 1pm

Join colleagues for a lunchtime wellbeing walk supporting the Rainbow Laces campaign, a movement that promotes inclusion and allyship for LGBTQ+ people in sports and fitness. This event provides an opportunity to get moving, connect with colleagues, promote wellbeing and inclusion, and show support for LGBTQ+ inclusion across the workplace. Taking place close to World Mental Health Day, the walk also highlights the positive impact that connection, inclusion and physical activity can have on our mental wellbeing.

Working and Managing in a Diverse Environment, Tuesday 20 October, 9.30am to 12.30pm

This interactive session explores what is meant by equality, diversity and inclusion and why they matter in the workplace. Through practical learning, discussions and exercises, participants will explore the benefits of inclusive workplaces, the challenges and barriers people may experience, and the actions we can all take to create an environment where everyone feels valued, respected and able to contribute.

Navigating Differences: Working Together in Polarised Times, Tuesday 20 October, 11am to 12pm

To support awareness around Hate Crime Awareness Week (10-17 October), we are encouraging colleagues to join this session which explores how we can build understanding, navigate disagreement respectfully, and create inclusive workplaces where everyone feels safe, valued and respected.

Participants will gain practical tools to support constructive conversations, challenge division, and foster a culture of inclusion.

Conversation Café for Neurodiverse Adults – SAMH, Wednesday 21 October, 5.30pm

Looking to connect with others who understand your experiences? This welcoming Conversation Café provides a safe and supportive space for neurodivergent adults experiencing mental health difficulties to share experiences, make connections and enjoy informal conversations in a relaxed environment.

There is no pressure to speak, listening is equally welcome. Come along for a cup of tea, connect with others and spend time in a community where everyone is valued, respected and understood.

ADHD Awareness - Signs4Life, Wednesday 28 October, 9.30am to 12.30pm

As part of Neurodiversity Awareness Month, join us for this informative workshop exploring ADHD, a neurodevelopmental condition that affects people in different ways and is not always recognised until adulthood. Participants will gain a better understanding of ADHD, explore common signs and characteristics, learn about the strengths and challenges associated with the condition, and discover practical strategies to support inclusion and reduce stigma in the workplace and beyond.

Introduction to Mental Health - GOLD Module of the Month

Did you know that 1 in 4 people will experience a mental health problem each year? Mental health is just as important as physical health and understanding it is the first step towards supporting ourselves and others. This module provides an introduction to mental health, explores common mental health conditions and their causes, and helps build awareness of the factors that can affect wellbeing. Participants will also learn more about groups who may be at greater risk of experiencing mental ill health and discover ways to promote positive mental health in everyday life.
