Further update from Glasgow City Council's Chief Executive on the Pay and Grading Structure

Dear colleagues,

I sent you a message yesterday about our new Pay and Grading Scheme.

In my message I said that we had failed to reach an agreed position with our Joint Trade Unions and that as a result we were going to issue all staff with a notice that your current contract would be brought to an end and replaced with a new contract.

I understand that this was extremely upsetting, and I sincerely regret we had to do this.

Today we have been involved in intense discussions with our Trade Unions and the Scottish Government.

As a result of those discussions, we have agreed to pause the issue of these letters to allow discussions next week with all three of our Trade Unions.

This is positive and I hope it will be the first step in allowing us to reach a collective agreement which will completely avoid the need for dismissals.

I will keep you updated as we move through next week.
