Glasgow 2026 Games ends on a high!

After 11 days of memorable competition and excitement in the city, Glasgow bade farewell to the 2026 Commonwealth Games on Sunday 2 August with a spectacular Closing Ceremony ending the event on a high.

Across 215 events spanning 10 sports and 6 para sports, 1,168 medals were awarded to world-class athletes competing from 74 nations and territories. 

More than 630,000 people engaged with the Games through live sport in venues, live sites across the city, and Glasgow 2026 Festival events.

Our venues, staff, volunteers – and Glasgow – rose to the challenge of ensuring a successful event, which has been praised as a ‘game-changer’ which sets out a new vision for the future of the Commonwealth Games.
