Go All In for the National Year of Reading
2026 is the National Year of Reading, a nationwide campaign to reignite a love of reading for pleasure across the UK. With reading in decline across all age groups, we're asking Glasgow Life colleagues to Go All In and continue to make reading exciting and accessible for everyone.
Glasgow Life is one of the campaign pledge partners. You can show your support for the campaign by:
- Adding an email signature 'I support the National Year of Reading' National Year of Reading 2026 | Go All In
- Explore ways to get involved and support the National Year of Reading through the Go All In resources: Libraries: Workplaces; Community Organisations
- Sign up to be a lead literacy champion. Whether you're in a library, museum, sports or community-based setting, the National Literacy Trust have lots of ideas to get people reading. If you are interested, please speak to your line/venue manager before emailing Maggie.Farrell@literacytrust.org.uk.
- Add public events around reading, storytelling, creative writing and illustration to the National Year of Reading Calendar. Please speak to your line/venue manager before accessing Submit an event | National Year of Reading 2026
For larger sporting and cultural events taking place across Glasgow, the National Literacy Trust would love to explore opportunities to promote reading for pleasure through passions and interests. If you wish to discuss this further, please email susan.calcluth@literacytrust.org.uk
