Join the Summer of Sport Step Count Challenge and get moving with your team
For the next four weeks, Scotland will be full of excitement. With the Football World Cup, the Women's Scottish Open, and the Commonwealth Games, this is a sport-packed summer. Now you can join in and get moving too.
Walking Scotland is hosting a free Summer of Sport Step Count Challenge from Monday 6 July to Sunday 2 August. It’s an easy and friendly way to track your steps, support your colleagues, and see how small wins can lead to big changes.
What it is
Form a team of up to five people and track your steps for four weeks. That’s all you need to do. You don’t have to be an athlete or do anything special. Just move and record your steps. You can join at any time and take part for a few days, two weeks, or the whole four weeks. It’s up to you.
Why it matters
Moving more can improve both your physical and mental health. When you raise your heart rate, you release natural mood boosters, lower stress, and help protect yourself from chronic diseases. The NHS suggests aiming for 150 minutes of moderate activity each week, but if you’re starting out, any movement is better than none.
This challenge is easy and fun. You’ll enjoy fresh air, friendly competition, and the chance to join something happening all over Scotland.
How to sign up
Sign up your team at stepcount.org.uk. You can register one team or several if you want to include colleagues from different locations.
