Meet Kevin: Helping new artists shine in Glasgow
Glasgow is Scotland’s cultural powerhouse. Our city has more than 100 cultural groups and many national arts companies. We want everyone in Glasgow to have the chance to enjoy the arts and to build a career in the creative world.
This year, we teamed up with Jobs & Business Glasgow to create something new. The city’s first Creative Industries Intermediate Labour Market Placement, known as an ILM. It is an eight-month job that helps people from underrepresented groups get real experience in the creative sector.
Since May, our Arts and Music team has been working with our Creative Artist, Kevin Brannigan. Kevin has spent the past few months learning new skills, trying out ideas, and working with colleagues across our venues.
During his placement, Kevin has:
- Written four short stories
- Started a novella that he hopes will grow into his first novel
- Joined our weekly Arts and Music team meetings
- Helped our producers with casting for the community pantomime
- Gained hands-on experience in our arts and cultural spaces
Kevin told us that the ILM has made a big difference to his confidence and his future plans.
You can hear from Kevin in our short video below. We hope you enjoy seeing his journey so far.
