My Wellbeing: Supporting colleagues affected by cancer

As part of our My Wellbeing plan, we're working with the Beatson Cancer Charity to run support sessions. There are sessions for managers and colleagues. They will help you feel more confident and learn simple ways to provide support.

If you're a manager or work with someone dealing with cancer, these sessions can help you. They can help you understand what to do and say. You'll learn how cancer can affect people at work, how to talk about it kindly, and what support is available. You'll also hear real stories from people who've been through it. There will be time to ask questions, and the team will offer help after the session if you need it.

Session options:

For managers and supervisors

  • In-person: Monday 27 May, 10:00am-12:00pm at Kelvingrove Art Gallery & Museum
  • Online: Tuesday 3 June, 2:00pm-3:30pm

This session focuses on:

  • Supporting colleagues through absence
  • Understanding legal responsibilities
  • Managing with empathy

For colleagues

  • Online: Monday 17 June, 1:00pm-2:30pm
  • In person: Wednesday 10 July, 10:00am-12:00pm at Kelvingrove Art Gallery & Museum

This session is ideal for anyone looking to understand how to support colleagues or themselves after a cancer diagnosis. It focuses on wellbeing, communication, and mutual support.

Places for the in-person sessions are limited, so register early. Online sessions are open to all and have no number limit.

You can register for a session here.

Let's work together to create a more understanding, supportive workplace for everyone.
