Penilee Community Centre holds family fun day to celebrate 50th anniversary
Hundreds of people came together for a family fun day to celebrate Penilee Community Centre’s 50th anniversary.
Families, friends, residents and staff gathered on Saturday 21 June for the free event at the Glasgow Life-run centre, which held a range of activities to mark the occasion.
Around 800 people got involved and enjoyed everything from a beat the goalie competition and a bouncy castle to Paw Patrol mascots, face painters and health and wellbeing activities.
There were also arts and crafts activities for children, a balloon man and animal handlers who brought along various creatures such as a leopard gecko, a snake and a tortoise.
Guests were also treated to free food from the centre’s newly opened café.
The team at Penilee Community Centre hailed the day as “a great success” and thanked members of Glasgow Life Libraries’ Admin, Community Services, Community Development, Early Years and Children, Marketing and Youth teams for their support. Organisers also credited Councillor Alex Wilson, Councillor Elaine McSporran, Bailie Jim Kavanagh, the South West Area Committee and Penilee Advisory Committee.
