They did it! Celebrating our Kiltwalk heroes

Colleagues from across Glasgow Life braved the weather last Sunday (27 April) to take on the challenge of walking 14 or 23 miles at this year’s Kiltwalk – all to raise money for causes close to their hearts.

Irene Cree from the Wellbeing Partnerships at the Mitchell Library, walked 14 miles with her rescue dog Heidi as part of the Big Stroll, raising £560 + £120 in gift aid for Perthshire Gun Dog Breed Rescue.

Irene said: “The Kiltwalk was a blast...and my feet have just about recovered. I loved the whole experience and the support from folks along the way was brilliant!”

Megan O’Brien and Gillian Adams from our Live Well team took on the 23-mile challenge to raise £1,465 for Scottish Huntington’s Association and £330 for Team Jak, supporting families affected by childhood cancer with emotional and social care.

Megan said: “The Kiltwalk was such a great event with such an amazing atmosphere. It was so interesting to see so many good causes and names of partners that we have good relationships with. I nearly managed to get away with no injuries (I am sitting here with a bandaged-up toe) but apart from that I have recovered. We are absolutely blown away by people’s kindness and generosity and would like to thank everyone who has supported us along the way.”

Our HR team also stepped up for a good cause, taking on 23 miles in the rain to raise £1260 for Macmillan cancer support. Leigh McMurdo, Ida Karlstedt, Amanda Brown, Debs McGibbney, Joanne Graham, Sarah McNeil, who were supported around the course by special guest Benji the dog.

Congratulations to everyone who took part in this year’s Kiltwalk and raised such fantastic amounts for their chosen charities.
