Community Heritage Grants 2026/27: Uncovering Sauchiehall Street

The Sauchiehall Street: Culture and Heritage District are inviting community and heritage organisations, social businesses, and community groups from across Glasgow to explore an aspect of the street’s heritage which matters to them and aligns with their work and the communities which they serve.

We want to bring residents, businesses, and visitors from across Glasgow into the conversation about Sauchiehall Street’s multifaceted stories and cultural memory, which lives in people’s connection to, and the street. This year, our Community Heritage Grants scheme is open to community groups and organisations across Glasgow to be involved in the conversation about Sauchiehall Street.

This Community Heritage Grants scheme is intended to give community groups the opportunity to pilot new ideas, or create new activities for existing programmes, with a focus on uncovering and exploring stories about the street.

For this programme, applications will be assessed by a Strategic Advisory Panel made up of stakeholders within the District who reflect the community here. Activities will form part of a wider two-year programme of activity designed to uncover, animate and renew the street for the people who live, work and visit the area. 

This opportunity will only be open to community and heritage organisations, businesses with social aims, and community groups working across Glasgow.

Last year, only groups within the district’s boundaries were able to apply to the Community Heritage Grants Scheme. However, Sauchiehall Street is a street for the whole of Glasgow, and this year, we want to open conversations with new groups and communities across the city, inviting them to explore their connections to Sauchiehall Street.

The district boundaries are: Sauchiehall Street from Glasgow Royal Concert Hall to Mitchell Library, Bath Street, Renfrew Street and the Garnethill Community.

Up to 50% of Community Heritage Grants will be made within the district, with at least 50% being made outwith the district.

Organisations applying to the fund must be based in Glasgow. 

For this scheme, applications from groups working with the following communities will be prioritised:

·       People from the Global Majority

·       People living with Disability

·       People with experience of/experiencing Homelessness

·        LGBTQ+ communities

All applicants must be a formally constituted group or organisation. We are unable to consider applications from individuals or newly established organisations.

Groups can apply if they have a financial host, or partner who they work with who holds funding on their behalf. An organisation, group or business can only make one application.

The same organisation cannot apply for multiple projects. Businesses are only eligible if they have social aims, or have a core community group which they work with. They must demonstrate in their application that their project would be of public benefit, and not commercial gain.

• Tuesday 01 September - In person information session at Edward House, 199 Sauchiehall Street, 6.00pm

The closing date is Wednesday 23rd September, 5.00pm.

Your application will be acknowledged within five working days, if you don’t receive an email acknowledging receipt of your application, please contact us. Incomplete or late applications will not be assessed.

We will accept applications as video files or voice recording, which will later be transcribed, if this is more accessible for you.
