Sitting with the Stars

Sitting with the Stars invites audiences to step into Glasgow’s social history as a ‘Cinema City’ during the early 20th century – a time when the city had over 130 cinemas and more cinema seats per head than any other city in the world.

Throughout the whole month of September we’ll be exploring Sauchiehall Street’s past and present cinemas through exhibitions, talks, events and film screenings.

This programme is funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund’s Heritage Places.

Partners for our programme include Glasgow Film Theatre, Glasgow Doors Open Day, Scottish Cinemas, Waterstones and Stuck? Collective. Special thanks to Bren MacNeil, Thomas McGoran and Neil Johnson-Symington.
