South Community Planning Partnership Area, Phase 4, The Movement

As part of Glasgow Life’s Artists in Communities programme in the South Community Planning Partnership Area, The Village Storytelling Centre, artists Hannah Brackston and Daniele Sambo delivered The Movement.
Building on relationships developed during the Artist in Residence phase, the artists collaborated with a range of groups, including ‘Women on Wheels’ and the SAPC Community Sports Hub Children’s Badminton Club, using cycling to reconnect people with their local environment and cultural heritage.
The team worked with St. Paul’s High School to establish a creative nurture group, offering storytelling and art sessions in nearby woodlands. Aimed at pupils identified as benefiting from a nurture-based approach, the programme supported mental well-being and encouraged connection with nature and self.
Working with Voices of Peace, the project supported refugees, asylum seekers, and New Scots women through movement, storytelling, and dance, creating space for sharing experiences and building community.
As part of the UCI Cycling World Championships, GO LIVE! programme, the artists collaborated with fellow participant Deirdre Nelson to host a welcoming celebration at Pollok Park’s Yoga Barn for Think Malawi cyclists, featuring storytelling, printmaking and music.
