Ward 20, Phase 3, Music for Baillieston
As part of Glasgow Life’s Creative Communities Artists in Residence programme for Ward 20, Baillieston, Nevis Ensemble worked with the local community and primary schools to create new, environmentally themed songs inspired by the legacy of COP26. These original compositions were performed live for the community.
This work was delivered as part of Create 4 Glasgow, a participatory art project that built on the legacy of COP26 and gave voice to Glasgow's young people and their environmental priorities.
The ensemble delivered 14 chamber music performances in public spaces across the ward, including Baillieston Community Garden, local parks, care homes, and outside the library and supermarkets. These pop-up performances brought music directly into the heart of the community.
Nevis also led weekly composition workshops with senior pupils in local primary schools. The sessions included one-to-one mentoring, which supported young people in developing their creative skills and environmental awareness.
