Accredited Learning Programmes for Young People

We believe that young people should get the credit for their learning and skills in and outside of the classroom. Our youth work team provide some awards and qualifications that allow our young citizens to showcase their skills wherever they are learned. You can find out about these programmes here.

I've enjoyed taking part in the courses that I've done. I've learned a lot of new skills - and found that I'm good at things I didn't even know I was. The staff are so supportive and friendly too!

Our Accredited Learning Programmes

These programmes are accredited on the SCQF - Scotland's national qualifications and awards framework. This means that they are equal to qualifications gained in school - an SCQF Level 5 is the same as a National 5, and an SCQF Level 6 is the same as a Scottish Higher.

The Community Achievement Award allows you to gain recognition for taking part in, or helping to run community activities.

There are two levels of award, SCQF Level 4 and SCQF Level 5.

The SQA Leadership Award helps to demonstrate your knowledge of and abilities in leadership skills.

There are 2 units to complete - Introduction to Leadership, where you learn about what leadership is, and Leadership in Practice, where you take part in a leadership activity.

The award is available at SCQF Level 5 and SCQF Level 6.

The SQA Assist with an Event unit helps young people demonstrate the skills involved in helping run a community event. This involves preparing for the event, being involved in the running of it, and looking back to see what you have learned.

The unit is available at SCQF level 4.

The Participative Democracy Certificate is all about having a say on decisions that affect you. To get the award, you'll spend 20 hours training, carrying out research and creating a change product around an issue that interests you.

The PDC is available at SCQF Level 5.
