Ticket includes a performance ticket for James Batchelor’s HYPERSPACE on Friday 18 October.

This workshop, led by Australian Choreographer James Batchelor, will experiment with how the body can map space. Since his involvement on an expedition to sub-Antarctic Heard and McDonald Islands in 2016, James has been questioning how the body senses, measures and maps the unknown. This was the experience that led to the development of the performances HYPERSPACE and DEEPSPACE by James Batchelor and Collaborators, both presented in Glasgow for DIG 19.

The workshop will introduce participants to James Batchelor’s approach to movement through a series of open-ended scores for improvisation from the performance. This will be supported by discussions, reading, writing and drawing. The focus will be on sharing creative tools and discovering the potential within the micro-world of the body.
